THE EDUCATION ASSISTANCE SCHEME

Free tutoring for military families

One-on-one tutoring support for children and dependents of active ADF members.

The Education Assistance Scheme

“If a member’s child changes schools due to posting in Australia, their education may be disrupted. This Division assists with the cost of additional educational services. These services help the child meet and maintain their academic standards at the new school so that they don’t fall behind academically due to posting.” (PACMAN 8.4.8.1)

Eligible students working with ADF Tutoring can receive up to one year of free tutoring for military families.

Veterans can access a separate funding pool through the DVA available here >

How does payment work?

ADF pays us directly for lessons

If the ADF member is away for service reasons and it is not practical to seek reimbursement, the ADF can pay us directly.

ADF reimburses the member for expenses

For all other members, ADF will reimburse you for expenses incurred.

In both situations we will generate an invoice for the full period of services once eligibility has been confirmed. First lesson will be scheduled once payment has been received in full – either payable by the ADF or by the member who will then seek reimbursement from the ADF.

Frequently Asked Questions

Free Tutoring for Military Families: Empowering the Next Generation

Military families often face unique challenges that can impact the education and well-being of their children. Frequent relocations, long deployments, and the stresses of military life can disrupt a child’s learning process. Recognizing these challenges, ADF Tutoring offers free tutoring for military families, ensuring that children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members receive the educational support they need. Funded by the Australian government under the Education Assistance Scheme, ADF Tutoring is dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized education to help these children thrive.

The Need for Free Tutoring for Military Families

Children in military families often experience frequent moves, which can lead to inconsistent schooling and gaps in their education. These disruptions can make it difficult for children to keep up with their peers academically. Additionally, the emotional stress of having a parent deployed can affect a child’s concentration and performance in school. Free tutoring for military families addresses these challenges by providing consistent, personalized educational support, helping children stay on track academically regardless of their circumstances.

Addressing Educational Disruptions

One of the primary benefits of free tutoring for military families is the ability to address educational disruptions caused by frequent relocations. Each time a family moves, children must adjust to a new school, new teachers, and a new curriculum. This adjustment period can result in gaps in knowledge and a decline in academic performance. ADF Tutoring offers tailored support to help children bridge these gaps, ensuring they receive continuous, uninterrupted education.

Providing Emotional Support

The emotional impact of having a parent deployed can also affect a child’s academic performance. Stress, anxiety, and the absence of a parent can lead to difficulties in concentration and motivation. ADF Tutoring not only provides academic support but also offers a stable and supportive learning environment. Our tutors are trained to understand the unique challenges faced by military children and offer the encouragement and support needed to help them succeed.

How ADF Tutoring Supports Military Families

ADF Tutoring is committed to providing free, high-quality educational support to military families. Our services are designed to be flexible and accessible, ensuring that every child receives the help they need, regardless of their location or circumstances.

Personalized One-on-One Tutoring

One of the key features of ADF Tutoring is personalized one-on-one tutoring sessions. Each child receives individualized attention from experienced tutors who tailor their teaching methods to meet the specific needs of the student. This personalized approach ensures that children receive the targeted support they need to overcome academic challenges and achieve their full potential.

Flexible Online Tutoring

Understanding the unpredictable nature of military life, ADF Tutoring offers flexible online tutoring sessions. This allows children to receive consistent educational support regardless of where their family is stationed. Our online platform is easy to use and provides a seamless learning experience, ensuring that children can access tutoring sessions from the comfort of their own home.

Comprehensive Subject Support

ADF Tutoring offers support across a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, English, science, and more. Our tutors are well-versed in the Australian curriculum and are equipped to help students at all levels, from primary school to high school. This comprehensive support ensures that children receive help in any area where they may be struggling, allowing them to build a strong academic foundation.

Building Confidence and Resilience

In addition to academic support, ADF Tutoring focuses on building confidence and resilience in military children. Our tutors provide encouragement and positive reinforcement, helping children develop a growth mindset and a love for learning. By fostering a positive attitude towards education, we aim to empower children to overcome challenges and succeed both in and out of the classroom.

The Impact of Free Tutoring on Military Families

The benefits of free tutoring for military families extend beyond academic performance. By providing consistent educational support, ADF Tutoring helps alleviate some of the stress and challenges associated with military life, leading to a positive impact on the entire family.

Academic Improvement

With personalized, targeted support, children are better able to understand and master the material they are learning in school. This leads to improved grades and a deeper understanding of the subjects they are studying. As children experience academic success, their confidence grows, further enhancing their performance.

Emotional and Social Benefits

The stability and support provided by ADF Tutoring also have significant emotional and social benefits. Children who receive consistent academic support are better equipped to handle the emotional challenges of having a parent deployed. The encouragement and positive reinforcement from tutors help children build resilience and develop a positive attitude towards their education.

Strengthening Family Bonds

By reducing the stress and challenges associated with their children’s education, free tutoring services help strengthen family bonds. Parents can feel more confident knowing that their children are receiving the support they need, allowing them to focus on their own duties and responsibilities. This peace of mind can lead to a more harmonious and supportive family environment.
